Think About Your Communicating

Do you know how you communicate with others? Think about it.....

Directions: Below is a list of statements that might describe your communicating. There are no right/wrong answers. This list is to provide you some awareness about your communicating:
Use the following to check your conversational style.

N-Never R-Rarely S-Sometimes U-Usually A-Always

  • I explain things well and others listen to me
  • I let others do most of the talking
  • I interrupt people
  • When someone else is talking, I think about what I want to say next
  • I try to encourage others to express their ideas
  • I try to stay on the topic being discussed
  • I know how to ask good questions about a topic
  • I really enjoy talking with people
  • When others try to dominate the talk, I just let them
  • I feel upset if people don't seem to value what I say
  • If I find myself dominating the conversation, I try to stop
