Essential to leadership of teams is creating a shared team vision and purpose. Teams involved in building a shared vision are more likely to have a focus to return to when things are not going well. Many organizations and businesses have a vision they use in their organization. Much like these organizational entities, teams that create a vision have a reason for being or they have a shared focus for their activities. The effort to create a team vision means stepping out of the daily routine to work together to develop a statement. This takes time away from other business routines and is not often a priority for all businesses or teams. Taking the time to create a vision in the beginning of the foundation of the team or reorganization helps create continuity, community and ownership for the projects and efforts of the team. Let's look at some questions we can use to begin creating shared vision statements for our teams. |
