Leadership Skills Developing a leadership style is much like becoming a character in a play. When assigned a role the actor must "play" the part and "be" the person in the context of the role of the character. How well the actor plays the part in the play depends on their skillfulness and knowledge of their role and responsibilities to demonstrate the characteristics portrayed in the play. In real teams we are often unconscious of our roles and how we are choosing to play a part based on the team dynamics. But, when we choose to be the leader or share the role of leadership we must approach leadership with expertise and talent. We must choose our patterns and behaviors within the scope of our team to be skillful in supporting the team to be successful. We must consciously choose the behaviors and patterns to help the team complete the goals and objectives in a timely manner. |
