The casework for this week is defined as:

Organizing your team. Establishing roles, responsibilities and the team foundation. Developing your team rules for engagement.

Due Date: Your team project is due on March 28th. Please make sure you e-mail your final assignment to us on or before this date. Every assignment builds on the training and provides a foundation for future modules, so it is important for the assignment to be completed and turned in on time.

Team Organization: Based on your responses on the registration form you were divided into a particular group. This information has already been e-mailed to each student. If you are unsure of your group assignment, please notify us immediately.

Instructions: Virtual casework involves being a team and using effective team building skills. In the first case study your group will need to form the organization and establish effective communication guidelines.

1. Organize your team. To do this you must meet and confer. You may use discussion, chat, conferencing or e-mail. We suggest using a live synchronized - source for communicating as your efforts will be more organized and effortless. You can visit this link to get some ideas on how to organize. You will need to assign a Leader, Manager, Communicator & Facilitator.

2. As a group you will need to determine the roles and responsibilities of each member of the group. Identify who, when, what, how. For instance if you have a project due this week (which you do), then how will you organize yourselves as a team to get this project done? Will you project manage the casework, or will you fly by the seat of your pants and have one person do all of the work for the group on the day the project is due? Essentially, we are asking you to define the rules as a team, so everyone is playing on the same team. Give your team a unique name to use for the remaining class sessions.

3. Document in a one page letter of agreement what the team has decided. If you need more space, fine, but make sure you have covered all of the bases of identifying roles, responsibilities and ground rules for how the team is going to work together and complete the projects together. Everyone needs to agree to the final letter.

4. The designated Communicator will send by e-mail. the final letter of agreement to the instructor on or before the due date. We recommend Word or rich text format (.rtf). If you are unsure of a format, e-mail me and we'll figure something out.

5. Each individual needs to have equal ownership for the project. Therefore, members who don't contribute will not be getting credit for the case work. We will ask you to self-assess your participation and the participation of each member. This will be done at the end of module 4 and will be confidential.
